The growing demand for blockchain technology naturally calls for a global blockchain talent pool.

From blockchain/cryptocurrency startups like Golem and ConsenSys to blockchain protocol creators like 0x, the world is looking for talented people interested in technology, business, and blockchain marketing.

The sudden demand for this relatively infantile technology, less than a decade old, is creating a huge crisis in the human capital interested and trained in this technology.

Google Trends charts and the number of job listings for blockchain/cryptocurrency also confirm what I am saying.

When we look at the kind of demand we have in the market in perspective, here are a few facts:

And with this demand matrix, numerous courses are proliferating both online and offline to train the next generation of blockchain talent.

To meet this demand, several universities have begun offering blockchain and cryptography courses.

That’s why CoinSutra has compiled a list of colleges and universities where you can get training to promote blockchain technology in front of potential employers.

5 Universities Offering Blockchain Courses

This first course includes: Masters in Digital Currency degree programs if students are interested in enrolling.

12 lecture videos and 11 lecture slides are also provided free of charge. Although this course was designed for Princeton students during the Spring 2015 semester, the information is still very relevant in today’s blockchain/crypto world.

Here is an interesting introductory video:

3. European University Madrid

Universidad Europea Madrid offers unique free courses on Bitcoin and blockchain technology. The course is called the Bitcoin and Blockchain Graduate Diploma and will teach participants how to create Bitcoin-enabled applications.

This course does not require any prior knowledge of Bitcoin, but basic knowledge of Python and Unix languages is recommended.

The course covers aspects of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, smart contracts, distributed ledger technology, and consensus systems.

To narrow down the broad topic of cryptocurrency, they only took case studies of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

4. University of California, Berkeley | USA

Blockchain-at-BERKELEYBlockchain-at-BERKELEY

UC-Berkeley has a unit called Blockchain At Berkeley, a student-run organization that aims to bridge the gap between blockchain/cryptocurrency and the general public.

This is not a certification or degree course, but it is all an effort to make the steep learning curve of this new technology much more bearable. They organize workshops, seminars, screencasts and events, and meet every Sunday to discuss cutting-edge white papers in the blockchain industry.

They also have a strict attendance policy and expel students who do not attend regularly.
