VanEck added that he initially donated $10,000 to support Brink’s work.
“I think this is fantastic news,” said Jonathan Bier, Brink’s board member. “Open source development work for Bitcoin is truly important and it’s fantastic that VanEck is giving back so generously to the core backbone of the ecosystem.”

Brink was founded in 2020 to strengthen the Bitcoin protocol through research and development and support the Bitcoin developer community. There is a fellowship program to bring new software engineers into Bitcoin development and a grant program for existing Bitcoin developers.
In June 2023, Brink received $5 million in funding from Jack Dorsey’s Smart Small Funding Initiative.
