EF is pleased to announce the results. Medalla Data ChallengeData hackathon focused on the Medalla testnet ✨
The prompts were open-ended. We asked for data tools, visualizations, and analysis of testnet data. In other words, anything that helps the community make sense of all that data.
Over the course of six weeks, we received 23 submissions from a variety of teams. We were delighted to see such high quality submissions across all categories.
Products are divided into three tiers based on scope, scalability, and usefulness to the community.
🥇 Gold ($15,000 prize)
- Jim McDonald — chains, a tool that extracts data from a running eth2 client and stores it in a PostgreSQL database. In particular, this tool was used by several other teams submitting to the Data Challenge.
- Pintail — A series of blog posts (One, 2, three, 4, 5) compare client performance, study network behavior, and discuss validator efficiency.
🥈 Silver Award (Prize Prize: $5,000)
- Sid Shekhar and Elias Simos extensive research eth2 data.
- Nansen’s Evgeny Medvedev – enlargement The ethereum-etl tool for eth2 and a BigQuery database dump of eth2 data.
- Nate McKervey from Splunk – Blog posts and dashboards Study the state of the Ethereum network.
🥉 Bronze ($1,000 prize)
It is expected
The goal of this contest was to spark new thinking in the Ethereum community, encourage them to take a closer look at eth2 data, make parsing and analysis easier, and provide valuable insights to developers and the community at large. To this end, the competition was a huge success, and we believe many of the tools and analyzes generated will be useful when the mainnet launches.
