Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken announced two strategic hires on Thursday, saying they will help position the company “for continued growth amid an evolving global regulatory environment.”
The first to join is Gilles BianRosa, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Product Officer (CPO), reporting to David Ripley, CEO of the exchange. BianRosa previously held CPO positions at European neobank N26, audio platform SoundCloud, and technology company Samsung Electronics.
Marcus Hughes will take on the role of head of global regulatory strategy at Kraken after serving as European managing director and general counsel for Coinbase’s international expansion for a year and a half, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“As we prepare for the next phase of growth in the cryptocurrency market, we must ensure that we can quickly adapt to rapidly changing market trends while navigating an increasingly complex and diverse regulatory environment,” Ripley said in a statement.
He added: “We will innovate, launch new products, enter new markets and continually improve our products while complying with applicable regulatory requirements across the many markets in which we operate.”
