A technological upgrade that is drawing much attention and anticipation. Ethereum Denkun Upgrade It is now expected to be launched on the network’s mainnet within a month.

Ethereum Dencun upgrade will begin in a month

After Dencun was successfully deployed on the Holesky testnet on February 7, ETH developers decided on a date and shared information about Geth v1.13.12, also called Edolus. The Ethereum Dencun upgrade, which will introduce Proto-Danksharding and Blobs, is scheduled to be released on March 13th.

Proto-Danksharding aims to increase block space on Ethereum layer 2 by implementing blob-forwarded transactions. A transaction passing a blob is similar to a standard transaction except that it passes additional data.

According to previous report, proto-Danksharding reduces the number of blobs in each block to 16, with each blob no more than 128 KB. As a result, block space is expected to increase by approximately 2MB.

The additional data space allows both optimistic and ignorant rollups to publish promises for on-chain transaction data. It also gives you the actual data of the blob, not ‘calldata’.

The Dencun upgrade is the biggest update. Ethereum Introduced after the Shanghai upgrade. The aforementioned Proto-Danksharding is often known as ETH Enhancement Proposal 4844 (EIP-4844) and is considered the cause of interest in the model.

In particular, the mainnet upgrade will take place exactly in slot 8626176 on the date specified above. However, that date still requires developer approval and GitHub confirmation.

They plan to publish the final version of the Ethereum client, including Dencun functionality, by February 22nd. As a result, validators only need two weeks to install updated client versions on their nodes.

Once the Dencun model is complete, the capabilities of the Ethereum network will improve. More specifically, the network is expected to handle 30,000 to 100,000 transactions per second (TPS).

Additionally, gas prices, which have been a significant bottleneck on the network since their introduction, must be reduced. Between 13 and 60 TPS.

Dencun deployed on Holesky testnet

Dencun Upgrade is currently on the Holesky testnet, launched on Wednesday February 7th. Core developer Christine Kim visited X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the testnet launch.

According to CEO Kim, it will be the last work released on the testnet before the mainnet is activated. Previously, Dencun was deployed to the Sepolia Testnet in January before transitioning to Holesky.

When an ETH upgrade occurs, it goes through several steps. testnet This is to ensure that it is ready for launch on mainnet. This is because every testnet is designed to replicate the conditions of the mainnet. This makes it simple for developers to find bugs and errors and then fix them before releasing them to users and the public.
