- Humanity Protocol emerges stealthily from a partnership between the Human Institute, Polygon Labs, and Animoca Brands.
- This protocol provides a privacy-preserving alternative to more invasive biometric methods such as iris scanning.
The Human Institute announced the launch of the Humanity Protocol, a zkEVM Layer-2 blockchain protocol that leverages Polygon CDK to provide new palm recognition technology for Web3 identity verification.
According to details shared in the press release, the protocol emerged stealthily with support from Polygon Labs and Animoca Brands.
Non-invasive biometrics
Humanity Protocol founder Terence Kwok, Animoca Brands co-founder Yat Siu, and Polygon Labs co-founder Sandeep Nailwal form the founding council of the new project.
According to the Human Institute, the new protocol provides a privacy-preserving alternative to invasive biometric methods. These methods include iris scanning for Worldcoin (WLD).
“Existing personal verification technologies can be invasive, complex, and burdensome. Humanity Protocol is building a user-centric ecosystem that will enable millions of dollars to be invested in truly decentralized, verifiable digital identity solutions, leveraging cutting-edge technology that uses non-invasive biometrics at the heart of a proof-of-humanity consensus mechanism. Respect the principles of true digital ownership while providing greater equity and inclusion for all participants.said Yat Siu.
According to the Human Institute, this technology will benefit a variety of distributed applications. This includes fully on-chain gaming, decentralized social media (DeSO), real-world assets (RWA), enterprise DeFi solutions, and decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) systems.
“Humanity Protocol, the world’s first blockchain ecosystem that not only provides true Sybil-proofing but also natively integrates verifiable credentials into a decentralized network of validating nodes, lays the foundation for a variety of blockchains and real-world applications that will be built on top of it. .” said Sandeep Nailwal.
Users can easily access zkVM-based protocols through their smartphones. Users onboarded through the testnet can receive rewards.
