The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has secured a travel ban against Liang Guo, also known as Allan Guo, the former director of the defunct Blockchain Global Limited.
The Australian Federal Court ordered Guo not to leave or attempt to leave Australia until August 20, 2024, according to an announcement from ASIC yesterday.
The order comes amid concerns from ASIC that Guo could leave the country following the hearing on February 20, 2024. Mr. Guo did not attend the hearing.
Guo is currently under ASIC investigation, as are former Blockchain Global directors Samuel Xue Lee and Zijang (Ryan) Xu, following the collapse of a cryptocurrency exchange operated by Blockchain Global called ACX Exchange.
Blockchain Global operated ACX Exchange from approximately January 2016 to December 2019. Liquidators were assigned to Blockchain Global on 11 February 2022 and then submitted a detailed report on 1 November 2023 setting out potential breaches of the Australian Corporations Act 2001.
The next trial date is currently scheduled for March 12, 2024.
