Cryptocito Net is a fraudulent cryptocurrency trading platform that uses the same branding as famous social media commentators to trick people out of their cash.
The platform claims to offer a variety of trading programs, including free trading signals for those who sign up for an account and deposit cash.
However, this platform is fake and is actually a shell design that mimics real cryptocurrency exchanges designed to attract investors.
Victims are often linked to the platform by people who have come into contact with them through social media. They may have been romantically involved with someone who is currently using emotional blackmail to induce them to invest.
When victims send money to Cryptocito Net, their investments appear to be doing well, but when they try to withdraw their funds, their accounts are blocked.
How to Identify Cryptocito Net Scams
There are many things this platform has to offer, including:
- It’s a simple, one-page, cookie-cutter design with very little content.
- There are numerous grammatical and spelling errors throughout the site.
- There is no information about the company or location.
- There are dead links across platforms.
- There are no official App Store apps to download.
- The domain name is registered in Iceland. This is a common tactic for scammers.
- The domain name is also very new (2024) despite the platform claiming to have established the business in 2013.
- There is no regulatory or licensing information.
- There are none of the trading information pages or financial products you would expect from a legitimate exchange.
- Social media links link to popular reviewers’ channels rather than channels associated with the site.
I was scammed by Cryptocito Net. Can I recover my coins?
It’s very difficult to get your cryptocurrency or cash back from scammers, but sometimes it’s worth reporting it as the police can help.
There are also private companies that can help, as I wrote here.
