Musk has previously expressed his love for dog-themed memecoins on several occasions.
His recent support for the token follows comments he made that could indicate waning interest in cryptocurrencies in general. Last year, Musk noted that he no longer spends much time thinking about cryptocurrencies. Tesla’s CEO also revealed to X that the social media platform formerly known as Twitter will “never” launch a cryptocurrency token.
Musk’s comments have historically influenced the value of Dogecoin.
Specifically, according to The Block’s price page, the price of Dogecoin has risen 6.9% in the last 24 hours to $0.185 at the time of this writing. The cryptocurrency has surged nearly 100% year to date.
