- The new Stratis Layer-1 blockchain integrates zkSync Layer-2 scaling.
- Launch of major incentive program for developers and users
USAMarch 21, 2024 / AlexaBlockchain/ – Stratis today announced the successful launch of a new Layer-1 blockchain based on the Ethereum codebase. After multiple smart contract audits, the chain went live today, marking the next chapter in Stratis’ mission to develop a highly versatile blockchain infrastructure.
The new blockchain is specifically designed to support decentralized finance (DeFi) and gaming use cases with high levels of security and scalability.
The key to achieving this is integrating zkSync, a Layer 2 scaling solution that significantly increases transaction throughput and reduces transaction costs without compromising security. Of particular importance to game developers, the new infrastructure means gamers playing games built on Strais can expect near-instantaneous in-game transactions that will make gaming more seamless and enjoyable.
Stratis users can immediately enjoy the benefits of mainnet staking, with plans to introduce liquid staking in the near future. Liquid staking involves the issuance of new tokens that represent ownership of the underlying staking asset. Liquid staking has grown in popularity among DeFi users as a way to maximize returns with a set amount of capital.
The DeFi community will also benefit from multiple bridges to seamlessly exchange cryptocurrency assets between the Stratis mainnet and other major blockchains. The team is also investigating potential lending and borrowing use cases and building integrations to major decentralized exchanges (DEXs) serving the Ethereum ecosystem.
Chris Trew, Stratis co-founder and CEO, said: “We are excited to see all of Stratis’ projects transitioning to the new chain and look forward to building more DeFi options in the coming months. To support the new mainnet launch, the Stratis Foundation has provided $1 million in developer and user incentives, so we expect significant on-chain activity following today’s launch.”
To support the launch of the new mainnet, the Stratis Foundation provided approximately $1 million in developer and user incentives. Incentives are provided to dApp developers who leverage zkSync’s extensions to build DeFi and gaming applications. Users who complete tasks such as staking, providing liquidity, or linking will also be eligible for incentive programs.
