Today, Bitcoin mining pool ViaBTC has officially mined 840,000 blocks. This not only marks the fourth Bitcoin halving, but also includes a block considered an “epic sat” by the Ordinals numbering system, the first satoshi. Bitcoin) of each halving era.

Ordinals, the numbering scheme for Satoshi, has sparked controversy but has also created an emerging market since its launch. These satoshis can also be classified according to their rarity, with “Epic Satoshi” being one of the rarest. This is because it only occurs during each halving (every 210,00 blocks, or approximately every 4 years). This scarcity makes these satoshis more valuable among those participating in the Ordinals market.

The rarity of Ordinal is displayed in six levels as described below.

Ordinal Rarity Level:

+ common: all sats other than the first sat in the block

+ uncommon: first sat in each block

+ Rare: First Saturday of each difficulty adjustment period

+ Epic: First Saturday of each Half-Life Era

+ Legendary: First Saturday of each cycle

+ Myth: The first tome of the Genesis block

The epic value of Satoshi is significant enough to attract the attention of miners, developers, investors, and collectors. Coinciding with the halving, Bitcoin block 840,000 contains a massive number of satoshis, boosting interest in the first block of the halving.

The Ordinals marketplace lists rare satoshis at a price that is usually higher than the price of one regular satoshi at any given time. These markets include high-end auction houses such as Sotheby’s, representing mainstream interest and interest.

As Ordinals and related markets continue to grow, questions arise about their impact on the Bitcoin ecosystem. Miners seeking opportunities in an evolving environment as the introduction of new protocols such as Runes adds complexity and incentives associated with “rare Satoshi” and Ordinals may introduce new strategies among Bitcoin miners and attract investors.
