Hong Kong Monetary Authority Issues Fraud Website and Phishing Warning

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning about scam websites and phishing emails linked to Tai Sang Bank Limited, according to a press release on its official website.

The fraud has been reported to the HKMA and a link to the press release is available on the HKMA website.

HKMA’s advice to the public

HKMA advises the public that banks do not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks to the bank’s website for transactions. Additionally, we never ask customers for sensitive personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords via phone, email, or SMS (including embedded hyperlinks).

Individuals who provided personal information or made financial transactions through the website or email should immediately contact Taesang Bank using the contact information provided in the press release. You should also make a police report by contacting the Hong Kong Police Crime Branch Information Center on 2860 5012.

Cybersecurity measures in response to increased online fraud

As the number of online scams continues to surge, the HKMA has been actively issuing warnings to ensure safe online practices for the public. This latest warning serves as a reminder for individuals to exercise caution and vigilance when handling online banking transactions and communications.

The HKMA continues to work with relevant authorities to combat these activities and ensure the safety and security of the online banking environment in Hong Kong.
