Lisbon’s iconic Carlos Lopes Pavilion hosted over 5,000 attendees at the third NFC Summit for an “immersive program on digital culture” that included art, fashion, gaming, film and a beach party.
Over 260 speakers gathered to discuss topics ranging from Bitcoin ordinals to meme tokens, while artists and figures in the NFT space, including Beeple, Deekaymotion, Claire Silver, Punk6529, and Patrick Amadon, discussed their work.
“It’s really interesting,” conceptual artist Kevin Abosch said in a talk on “Posthuman Modernism.” “I think we’re going through a photography renaissance.”
Abosch discussed his latest project, “Civics,” a series of AI-generated “montages” depicting protests and civil disobedience. “Don’t tell me how honest a ‘real’ photograph is. It can be more dishonest than anything else,” he said, insisting that the subject being photographed is “aware” of the camera’s presence. “And conversely, composite photography can permeate with more honesty than you can get from traditional photography.”

The inaugural AIFA Awards, held as part of NFC Lisbon, recognized the work of AI filmmakers. The AImagine Best Film Award went to “Denny the Shark,” produced by Ethereal Moon, a collaborative duo comprised of Melody Bossan (aka LeMoon) and Dina Lockamy (aka Ethereal Gwirl).
“We’re trying to prove the idea that emerging technologies are pioneering their fields globally,” said AI Film Academy co-founder Leo Crane. decryption. He argued that the award showcases AI’s ability to empower creators, allowing them to “really compete with multi-million dollar films in a way that wasn’t possible before.”
The NFC Summit also featured the 2nd ABS Digital Art Award, awarded to French artist RVig’s work “Les Fleurs du Mal.” The work reinterprets Charles Baudelaire’s poetry as a series of ribbons that “evolve and flow according to the structure of the poem.”
“Art is always evolving,” RVig said upon receiving the award. “Today, digital and NFT art still faces skepticism. But in my humble opinion, we can all be inspired by Charles Baudelaire. “Let’s go beyond the limits.”
