TipLink, a Solana cryptocurrency wallet startup, is simplifying blockchain access for new users by eliminating the need for existing wallet browser extensions. The new service, TipLink Wallet Adapter, allows users to create an in-browser wallet linked to their Google account without having to set up a wallet like Phantom or Solflare before receiving tokens.
“We unlock the world for easy onboarding,” said TipLink CEO Ian Krotinsky. This approach aims to attract the majority of internet users who do not have a cryptocurrency wallet and lack the knowledge or inclination to set up one. Users will receive a wallet link and can use it immediately by logging in with their Google credentials.
While this may not sit well with staunch advocates of self-care, who emphasize “it’s not a key or a coin,” Krotinsky isn’t worried about that niche. He explained that TipLink’s app protects private keys, minimizing the risk of users unintentionally exposing themselves to phishing attacks. Especially for accounts that use two-factor authentication, Google’s security measures add another layer of protection.
“Right now it’s not a place where users can store a million dollars,” Krotinsky said, but assured that the team is working to introduce “more layers of security” in the future.
TipLink operates within a controlled environment for decentralized applications and only interacts with verified programs to ensure user safety and prevent fund theft, as seen in a promotional video shared with CoinDesk.
TipLink is also developing a “Pro” service to help developers distribute cryptocurrency to hundreds or thousands of users through campaign links.
