Aethir, a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) provider, announced the launch of its decentralized cloud computing network on the Ethereum mainnet.
Enterprises, data centers, other cloud providers, and cryptocurrency mining operators can contribute their idle GPU resources to Aethir’s network of GPU-as-a-Service solutions.
Co-founder Mark Rydon emphasized the importance of the mainnet launch:
“By providing a scalable framework for redistributing idle computing resources, we can power more innovation in the rapidly evolving areas of AI, ML and cloud gaming. On mainnet, high-quality companies can contribute to the Aethir network and increase access to the current GPU supply.”

Aethir network features and encryption
Enterprises and developers can rent computing resources from Aethir network providers to train artificial intelligence (AI) models or render digital content at scale.
Aethir uses Ethereum as a staking feature through its native ATH token and uses Arbitrum (ARB) to enforce quality assurance through fast payouts to provider computations and community rewards for checker nodes.
Aethir’s ATH also facilitates network governance, staking processes, and DePIN ecosystem security.
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Rydon explained the encryption controls in place to protect the security of data transmission.
“We use full-channel encryption technology to ensure that data is only transmitted and visible to you during use and cannot be decrypted or opened by third parties. “Encrypted channels are closed upon termination of use to protect the absolute security of user data.”

Testnet success, mainnet safety
Aethir’s testnet phase has surpassed 500,000 users, with $146 million in node sales and support from NVIDIA, Super Micro, HPE, and Foxconn.
Regarding how Aethir ensures data security and privacy, Rydon told Cointelegraph:
“In terms of network security, such as network access control and DDoS prevention, special hardware firewalls protect data security. Customers are always the owners and users of their data, and the cloud platform ensures the security and confidentiality of their data. This data remains safe and confidential for internal as well as external visitors.”

PIN Off Web3 Architecture
The DePIN narrative continues to circulate in the Web3 space and is gaining momentum despite the technology being available for several years.
Rydon said of the role of DePIN in Web3:
“DePIN’s architecture itself has excellent high availability and fault tolerance built-in features. Distributed computing power avoids the problem of service nodes being too centralized, resulting in a lack of single-point service capabilities and low fault tolerance rates.”
DePIN has the potential to disrupt Big Tech and free the Internet, allowing individuals to contribute their labor or resources and be rewarded with micropayments.
