The market for tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds hit a record high of 2,143 holders on June 18, representing 250% year-over-year growth, according to data aggregator RWA.xyz. Temperature Short-Term U.S. Government Bond Fund (USDY) has 1,054 holders and over $218 million worth of tokenized bonds.
The BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL), which leads the market with approximately $463 million in tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds, has 14 registered holders, one of the smallest numbers. Specifically, BUIDL is reserved for qualified institutional investors and has a minimum investment requirement of $5 million.
Meanwhile, Franklin OnChain US Government Money Fund (FOBXX), run by asset manager Franklin Templeton, is the second largest in terms of number of holders and number of tokenized assets. FOBXX has registered 430 holders and has tokenized assets exceeding $344 million.
Government Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX), managed by WisdowTree, rounds out the list of tokenized funds with over 100 holders, with 152 investors holding shares digitally represented. Additionally, the number of WTGXX holders has increased by 950% this year.
In June, more than $136 million worth of tokenized fund shares were issued, with $35 million canceled as investors claimed the assets. Moreover, the tokenized U.S. Treasury market reached an all-time high of $1.57 billion on June 17, boasting a year-over-year growth rate of 118%.
