Key Takeaways
- 1KIN Labs has launched GR1D, a modular layer 2 blockchain that allows players to discover and access new games through a single platform without the need to swap chains and wallets.
- With over 100 Web3 titles onboard, including Aavegotchi, BLOCKLORDS, Aurory, and others, and partnerships with ecosystems like Polygon, Solana, Avalanche, and more, 1KIN is already well-positioned to realize the first integrated Web3 gaming hub.
- GR1D allows Web3 game developers to leverage a broad user base without migrating from the blockchain they originally chose to build on.
1KIN Lab Today we announced the launch of GR1D, an advanced modular Layer-2 blockchain network designed to unify the fragmented Web3 gaming sector. The platform already features over 100 decentralized gaming titles, including popular names like Aavegotchi, BLOCKLORDS, and Aurory, and provides a central hub that simplifies player access and interaction across various blockchains.
GR1D’s architecture allows players to enjoy a variety of Web3 games without the hassle of switching multiple chains and managing multiple wallets. This approach not only improves the user experience, but also preserves the unique aspects of each game by maintaining the underlying blockchain environment.
1KIN Labs said it has already established several partnerships with major blockchain ecosystems such as Polygon, Solana, and Avalanche.
According to Jack O’Neil, founder of 1KIN Labs GR1D was built “to provide a unified tool that unifies Web3 game discovery methods and allows full interoperability across chains and titles.”
“GR1D provides users with an easy login experience like Amazon Prime Gaming or Xbox Game Pass, while bringing the efficiencies of blockchain and distributing value back to shareholders,” said Jack.
GR1D also offers a variety of tools and services aimed at both developers and players. One standout feature is 1PASS, a subscription service described as a decentralized Xbox Game Pass that provides access to exclusive content, early game releases, and various discounts. “During closed beta in 2023, the service has already seen high demand from gamers, with 25,000 participants,” the company said in a statement.
Another key component is 1KIT SDK. This allows game developers to seamlessly integrate with GR1D to enhance existing applications or create entirely new applications within the ecosystem.
A pivotal aspect of GR1D’s capabilities is its focus on interoperability and liquidity of gaming assets, which is expected to be a major game changer for the industry. The network leverages GR1D Credits ($GRID), a universal gaming token, to facilitate transactions and interactions across various gaming platforms and ensure smooth and efficient exchange of assets.
In addition to technological innovation, GR1D introduces GR1D Tags, a global ID system that allows players to maintain a single digital avatar across all games within the ecosystem.
As the Web3 gaming industry continues to expand, GR1D’s unified network model could potentially set a new standard for blockchain gaming, making it just as mainstream and user-friendly as traditional games. With the upcoming $GRID token creation event, 1KIN Labs is not only enhancing gaming experiences, but paving the way for a more interconnected and accessible future of digital gaming.
The 1PASS program is scheduled to launch in early August, the GR1D testnet is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024, and the mainnet is scheduled to launch in 2025.
