In a strategic move to encourage community engagement and strengthen the ecosystem, Cronos (CRO) has announced the launch of the zkEVM Pioneer Program. According to Cronos, the initiative will allow users to earn points by completing various quests on the network’s testnet, with the opportunity to claim these points for additional revenue in participating decentralized applications (dapps) in the future.
Introducing the Cronos zkEVM Pioneer Program
The Cronos ecosystem is working with engineering teams from Matter Labs (the team behind zkSync), Crypto.com, VVS Finance, Fulcrom Finance, and Veno Finance to develop the next-generation blockchain network called Cronos zkEVM. Starting in early June 2024, users have been able to complete quests on the network’s testnet to earn points that can later be exchanged for rewards.
The program aims to encourage user participation by providing points that can be claimed by participating dapps to earn additional revenue when using the Cronos zkEVM network. More quests and point tracking webpages will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
What is Cronos zkEVM?
Cronos zkEVM is designed as a high-performance blockchain network integrated into the ZK Chain ecosystem powered by zkSync technology. It connects to the Ethereum Mainnet via a shared bridge, leveraging the security and user base of Ethereum and integrating zkSync’s capabilities for secure and efficient cross-chain interactions.
As part of the broader Cronos ecosystem, Cronos zkEVM works in conjunction with the Cronos EVM blockchain and the Cronos POS chain. This new chain aims to address high-throughput DeFi use cases and hosts yield-generating tokens provided by Veno Finance, such as zkCRO, vETH, and vUSD. This approach allows users to access staking yields and stablecoin savings yields while participating in DeFi protocols.
Cronos zkEVM Pioneer Program: Vision
The Cronos zkEVM Pioneer Program is designed to reward the participation and active engagement of dedicated community members on the Cronos zkEVM chain and dapps. The goal of the program is to provide a rewarding experience while promoting the growth and success of the Cronos zkEVM ecosystem.
Guiding Principles
The Pioneer Program is structured around four key principles:
- In line with Chronos: We recognize their significant contributions to the Cronos zkEVM network and the broader Cronos, Ethereum, and ZK ecosystem.
- Initial Support: We reward early supporters, especially those who participated in testnet activities and early mainnet phases.
- Wide distribution: Cronos zkEVM and various dapps provide diverse activities to ensure wide accessibility.
- transparency: To create a level playing field and build trust, we list eligible jobs on a dedicated webpage.
Types of Point Earning Activities
Participants can earn points through three main activities:
- Expand your community’s influence on social media: Engage in community and social inquiry.
- Use the Cronos zkEVM testnet: Actively participated in Galxe’s Tethys testnet quest.
- Using Cronos zkEVM Mainnet and dapps: Interact with dapps on the Cronos zkEVM mainnet.
In the future, users will be able to claim points for additional revenue from participating dapps, with rewards likely to be distributed in zkCRO and the corresponding dapp tokens.
What are your future plans?
The point earning activity has not yet started, but we expect to see updates soon. The next quest, Cronos zkEVM Passage, is expected to start soon, which will encourage users to stake CRO on the Ethereum Mainnet for bigger rewards.
As Cronos seeks to shape the future of the ecosystem through active community participation, the global cryptocurrency community will be watching these developments closely.
