Polygon (MATIC) CDK is the first chain development kit to integrate Circle’s Bridged USDC standard, providing seamless upgrades and improved liquidity.

Polygon (MATIC) CDK has become the first chain development kit to integrate the Bridged USDC standard developed by USDC issuer Circle, polygon.technology announced. This integration aims to streamline the deployment and future upgradeability of Bridged USDC on EVM chains, improving both developer and user experience.

Improved developer and user experience

The Bridged USDC Standard allows developers to build on a single contract address that remains consistent even after upgrading to native USDC. This makes the transition to native USDC more seamless, as no code changes are required. Users also benefit from the seamless upgrade, as there is no action required to switch to the new native USDC.

Security and Audit

The bridge and token contracts have been reviewed by core developers at Polygon Labs along with their full implementation. The Bridged USDC Standard is open source and audited based on the same audited ERC-20 contract code for USDC, which has secured billions of dollars in liquidity.

Integrated liquidity and scalability

Integrating the Bridged USDC Standard with Polygon CDK benefits the entire Polygon ecosystem. It helps unify liquidity by allowing developers to build around a single form of Bridged USDC, reducing the liquidity fragmentation that often occurs with multiple bridges and standards. Additionally, any chain built with Polygon CDK can integrate the standard to deploy Bridged USDC or EURC token contracts, making it highly scalable.

Future collaboration and expansion

Circle and Polygon Labs continue to collaborate to explore additional compatibility with native USDC. Secured by pessimistic proofs, AggLayer represents another step toward a unified blockchain ecosystem by enabling native asset transfers between chains.

Adoption and Next Steps

Several chains, including Polygon zkEVM, X Layer, and Astar Network, have already integrated the Bridged USDC Standard. For developers looking to build with the Polygon CDK, resources are available in the GitHub repository.

This integration marks a significant milestone for the blockchain industry by providing a standardized, secure, and upgradable solution for stablecoin transactions across multiple chains.
