Szilágyi’s views include the Ethereum PeerDAS proposal, which would increase the size of an Ethereum blob to 32MB, among other changes. Szilágyi argues that the PeerDAS upgrade would discourage home stakers with generally simpler computing setups from participating in the Ethereum network, which goes against the decentralized spirit of blockchain.
“Ethereum Research is killing home stakers in front of everyone,” Sillaji wrote on social media platform X. “This is not what I signed up for when I joined Ethereum.”
He added, “At this point I would be happy to prove otherwise, but I think Ethereum is losing its plot. The research team has completely embraced the idea of centralizing everything verifiable. It’s a cute trick: decentralized verification, but centralized control.”
Ethereum Blobs provide short-term storage on the network and have been live since the Dencun upgrade in March of this year with the implementation of EIP-4844.
According to The Block Prices, Ethereum is trading at $3,255 as of 2:47 PM (6:48 PM UTC) on July 26, up 4.11% over the last 24 hours.
