Sui Community Fights Fraud with Sui Guardians Initiative

The Sui community has taken proactive steps to strengthen security and protect users by launching the Sui Guardians initiative. According to The Sui Blog, the new program aims to combat fraud and phishing attacks within the Sui ecosystem.

Sui Guardians to the Rescue

The Sui Foundation has highlighted the important contributions of the Sui community, particularly on the platform Suiet, in developing and maintaining Sui Guardians. This initiative focuses on tracking and mitigating fraudulent projects on Sui, providing essential security resources for both developers and users.

Phishing attacks and scams are becoming more and more prevalent in the Web3 ecosystem, targeting users to steal sensitive information or valuable assets. The Sui Guardians project provides a dedicated repository to track and record phishing websites targeting the Sui ecosystem. Fraudsters often airdrop NFTs to users’ wallets, impersonating legitimate projects, tricking victims into connecting their wallets to malicious websites, and then stealing users’ assets.

To address this issue, Sui Guardians maintains a comprehensive and continuously updated list of known phishing websites and malicious assets identified via prefix matching. This list is accessible via Suiet’s GitHub repository and can be integrated into any Sui app to protect users in real-time. When a user accesses a website via an app that utilizes Sui Guardians, the URL is compared against the list of domains, and if a match is found, the user is warned and redirected to a safe page.

Thanks to Sui Guardians, approximately 2,500 malicious interaction warnings are delivered to Suiet users every week. The success of Sui Guardians relies heavily on community participation. The Sui Foundation encourages all builders on Sui to integrate this tool to protect users from scams. Builders and users are encouraged to contribute information about known scams to the repository. Contributions can be submitted via the Sui Guardian scam reporting form, providing detailed information about the scam so that it can be reviewed and included.
