The Sui Bridge incentive program, which ran in June, identified bugs and collected insights for a smoother bridging experience. Over 184,000 transactions were completed.

In June, the Sui Bridge Incentive Program was launched, inviting the community to rigorously test the Sui Bridge Testnet implementation by transferring assets between Ethereum Sepolia and Sui. According to The Sui Blog, the program successfully facilitated over 184,000 transactions, which played a vital role in identifying and fixing bugs, improving features, and improving the overall user experience.

Key Statistics

  • Trading indicators:
    • Total Transactions: 184,000+
    • Inbound Transactions: 127,000+

    • Discord Feedback
      • SUI addresses eligible for compensation: 1,096
    • Total Rewards Distribution: 98,669 SUI

Areas of focus

Several key areas were prioritized throughout the program.

  • craftiness: Ensures smooth and stable transaction processing.
  • stress: Performance evaluation in high volume situations.
  • security: We test for vulnerabilities to ensure the highest level of security.
  • Usability: We collect feedback on user experience to improve interface design.
  • rule: Conduct governance fire drills with validators to ensure bridge configuration changes are implemented correctly.

Key Learnings and Insights

Feedback and data collected from the community played a significant role in improving Sui Bridge. The identified bugs included issues such as allowing zero bridging, frontend performance issues, and improvements to the frontend interface. All of these issues have been resolved, and thanks to the insights provided by testers, frontend performance has been significantly improved by using a custom indexer to serve data.

It was also noted that the gas cost of reconnecting assets to Ethereum was higher than desired due to the number of signature verifications required. Solutions to reduce these costs are actively being developed for future Sui Bridge releases.

What’s next for Sui Bridge?

The upcoming mainnet launch of Sui Bridge is a highly anticipated development. This milestone introduces a secure and cost-effective native bridge to Sui, allowing users to easily transfer assets between Sui and Ethereum. Future plans include continued development of Sui Bridge, inclusion of more assets, and eventual integration with other chains. Continued community engagement remains critical to improving Sui Bridge. Stay tuned for further updates on community initiatives as Sui Bridge continues its journey towards wider adoption.
