According to Filecoin, a new public goods developer experience (DX) team, FIL-B, has been launched to support builders of the Filecoin (FIL) decentralized storage network.
Empowering the builders
FIL-B aims to help developers build on-chain solutions on Filecoin’s decentralized storage network. The team provides developer-friendly, comprehensive documentation, tutorials, and tooling to simplify the process of starting a new project. They have also made significant contributions to the Filecoin documentation and started the FIL-Builders repository for user-friendly starter kits, such as the on-chain payment dApp kit.
Technical guidance and feedback
FIL-B provides technical guidance to unblock builders, provide solutions, and connect with appropriate technical experts. As the project matures, FIL-B works closely with the team to provide more in-depth technical support. The team works on public boards for identified DX challenges and actively collaborates with the Filecoin development team to address these issues.
Management of the Filecoin Ethereum Virtual Machine (FEVM)
FIL-B acts as the maintainer of the Filecoin Ethereum Virtual Machine (FEVM) to ensure seamless EVM compatibility. The team works with Lotus maintainers, Filecoin’s ETH RPC provider, and third-party integrations to optimize the developer experience. Recently, FIL-B released an ETH RPC benchmarking tool to help builders monitor ETH RPC methods.
Community Growth
FIL-B is dedicated to growing the Filecoin builder community and fostering meaningful connections between developers. The team engages with the community through the @FILBuilders Twitter account, the Filecoin Discord, and other platforms to provide updates and highlight builder projects. FIL-B also partners with the Filecoin Foundation and other organizations to organize developer programs and events such as the FIL Dev Summit and Filecoin Orbit.
Background and Expertise
FIL-B was spun off from the former Developer Experience team at Protocol Labs, the R&D lab that launched Filecoin. This team brings deep expertise and community connections to FIL-B and is part of the public goods layer of the Protocol Labs Network.
