After some delays, the popular Telegram-based cryptocurrency game Hamster Combat has announced that it will be holding its first airdrop next month.
The Hamster Kombat team announced in a post on their Telegram channel with over 52 million subscribers that the token generation event, or TGE, will take place on September 26. In a recent whitepaper, Hamster Kombat developers stated that 60% of the token airdrop will be dedicated to players.
“The remainder is used to provide market liquidity, ecosystem partnerships and grants, squad rewards, and other items,” the Hamster Kombat whitepaper explains.
The team behind the game had previously planned to launch the airdrop in July, but postponed the TGE. When they released the Hamster Kombat whitepaper, the game team said they were “unable to predict” when it would happen due to technical issues with the airdrop.
One of the main challenges of the airdrop is likely to be the sheer number of users who want to take advantage of the TGE. In July, the Hamster Kombat team said the game had about 50 million daily active users across 190 countries. It’s unclear how many of those users are bots.
Notcoin, a Telegram-based clicker game, is in many ways responsible for bringing attention to other similar games like Hamster Kombat and Yescoin. In May, Notcoin airdropped over 80 billion NOT tokens, worth about $1 billion at the time.
Hamster Kombat’s founders told The Block that Notcoin’s success inspired their game. The founders also said they are planning a second airdrop.
