According to the Ethereum Foundation blog, the Ethereum Foundation has announced a new grant focused on data collection initiatives aimed at increasing understanding and robustness of the Ethereum network.
Apibara: Open Source Data Platform
One notable project receiving support is Apibara, an open source data platform. The project integrates Ethereum Execution and Consensus Layer data into Apibara, allowing developers and researchers to sync on-chain data with a variety of databases or APIs. The platform currently supports PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Parquet, and webhooks, with additional integrations possible.
DotPics: A comprehensive Ethereum dashboard
DotPics, led by Anton Wahrstätter, is another grant recipient. The initiative includes developing dashboards and tools for Ethereum data, with a particular focus on the 4844 blob and its usage. Wahrstätter also plans to release an open-source parser that will label validators and identify potentially censorable transactions, thereby increasing transparency within the network.
Metrika’s Healthy Network Baseline
Metrika aims to establish clear health metrics and thresholds for the Ethereum network. Leveraging the Xatu platform, the project documents and distributes essential network health metrics to help the community maintain the stability of Ethereum.
MigaLabs: Advanced Data Collection Tools
MigaLabs will develop tools for monitoring Ethereum nodes, tracking data propagation, and analyzing MEV patterns. The goal is to provide researchers with a comprehensive tool to predict network changes and bottlenecks, ensuring network robustness.
Nethermind: Verification Data Collection and Analysis
Nethermind is working on a project to collect and analyze anonymous data from Ethereum validators. This initiative will help us understand the distribution of execution layer and consensus layer clients, which is important for maintaining a resilient network. Nethermind also aims to develop tools to analyze layer 2 (L2) solutions, focusing on profitability, data requirements, and security risks.
Expanding Growthepie’s Core Platform
Growthepie plans to expand the platform to include more Layer 2 metrics and block space analytics. The project focuses on providing a comprehensive set of tools and knowledge to understand the L2 ecosystem, with the goal of making it more transparent and accessible.
Standardized Smart Contract Labels
Growthepie is also working on standardizing smart contract labels and ABIs to create a universally accessible database. This effort will create a more transparent blockchain data environment, including crowdsourcing from the community to ensure comprehensive and accurate labeling.
WalletLabels: Enhancing Wallet Transparency
Function03 Labs’ WalletLabels platform aims to simplify the identification of on-chain wallets through custom labels. The initiative provides actionable insights into wallet behavior that benefit a variety of platforms, including block explorers and wallet services.
These diverse projects highlight the Ethereum Foundation’s efforts to improve the transparency, security, and usability of the network through robust data collection and analytics initiatives.
