Polygon (MATIC) Miden Alpha Testnet v4 introduces new features for developers, including Rust compiler support and a block explorer.

According to polygon.technology, Polygon (MATIC) has announced the launch of Miden Alpha Testnet v4, which introduces several new features aimed at improving the developer experience.

Key features of Miden Alpha Testnet v4

The latest version of the Miden Alpha Testnet brings improvements and tools for developers. One of the most important updates is the alpha release of the Rust compiler. This tool allows developers to compile their Rust code to Miden Assembly, marking a major milestone in the Rust-to-Miden compiler toolchain. While still experimental, this release enables general compilation from Rust/WebAssembly to the Miden VM’s bytecode, MAST (Merkalized Abstract Syntax Tree).

Additionally, the first release of the Miden block explorer developed by the StarkScan team has been released. This tool allows users to check the current state of the Miden blockchain, including accounts, notes, and transactions.

Enhanced developer tools and features

Miden Alpha Testnet v4 also includes several other developer-focused features.

  • Consume multiple notes in one transaction: Miden VM now supports using multiple banknotes in a single transaction, improving efficiency.
  • Trade Request for Custom Notes: Users can now customize their transactions and insert custom notes into their Miden clients.
  • Midden Web Client Crate: This feature allows running the Miden client in a browser, paving the way for browser-based Miden applications.
  • Miden client CLI improvements: Users can now specify asset amounts using decimal points and export accounts via CLI.
  • Default wallet changes: The send_asset procedure has been split into create_note and move_asset_into_note, allowing you to now send notes without assets using the default wallet.

Future updates and roadmap

In the future, Polygon plans to introduce several additional features and improvements to the Miden Testnet. These include a fully-featured Rust compiler, Oracle support, and network transactions. Developers and pioneers can find all the changes in the new version in the corresponding changelog on the Miden GitHub repository.

This new release focuses on developer-facing features, but also includes many other changes, simplifications, and improvements. As more pioneers join the Polygon Miden Alpha Telegram group and start building sovereign dApps on Miden zkVM rollups, the platform will continue to evolve, opening up new opportunities for the Web3 ecosystem.

The future of Web3 is integration, and Polygon Midden is at the forefront of this evolution.
