Wormhole, a prominent blockchain interoperability protocol, has announced a major upgrade to its portal application as part of its broader Era3 upgrade. The Portal V2 upgrade focuses on improving user experience by introducing new transfer paths, including intent-based transfers and native-to-native swaps, significantly improving transaction speeds and user interface.
Key features of Portal V2 upgrade
The Portal V2 upgrade introduces several new features aimed at optimizing the cross-chain asset transfer process. Users can now transfer supported assets between major blockchains such as Solana, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, and BNB Chain in less than 15 seconds. This is a significant improvement over previous transaction times, especially on Ethereum, which traditionally took at least 15 minutes due to finality requirements.
An intuitive feature of the upgrade is the ability for users to perform native-to-native cross-chain exchanges. This allows one-click asset transfer and swap without the need for wrapped assets, all managed through the portal’s frontend. The upgrade leverages SWIFT and Mayan’s latest intent transfer model to achieve smooth and fast transactions.
Improved user experience
The Portal V2 upgrade also focuses on streamlining the user experience. The application now features automatic detection of networks and assets in connected wallets, reducing manual errors and speeding up the process. Additionally, the user interface for cross-chain transfers and swaps has been simplified, eliminating the need for users to manually redeem transactions.
For users who want to transfer specific assets, such as USDC via CCTP on Circle or tBTC on Threshold, the application now offers dedicated menu options. This improvement makes it easier to navigate through the extensive list of Wormhole-supported chains and assets.
With the introduction of the Transaction History feature, users will be able to view their asset transfer history in Wormholescan after connecting their wallets. Additionally, automatic redemption allows users to send tokens to any address on the target chain without manual intervention, increasing operational autonomy.
Commitment to continuous improvement
This upgrade is being described as the most significant overhaul of Portal functionality to date. Wormhole and its core contributors are committed to further improving the product stack built on top of the Wormhole protocol, and we promise more updates and improvements in the near future.
