Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin donated $182,000 worth of ETH, converting billions of dollars in Moo Deng memecoins people sent him to biotech charity Kanro.
Buterin noted that all memecoins sent to him will be donated to charity. He added that users should either send their tokens directly to charity or create a DAO to give people a better say in where their money goes.
“As I said before, I think the best thing about memecoins is that they can be as positive as possible for the world, so it’s really cool to see the moment when that actually happens!” Buterin wrote on social media platform
Moo Deng memecoin MOODENG is derived from the female pygmy hippopotamus of the same name. She lives at Khao Kio Open Zoo in Thailand and is going viral for her cute appearance and aggressive personality.
According to cryptocurrency price tracker CoinGecko, MOODENG was trading at around $0.105 as of 9:53 a.m. ET (13:53 UTC) on October 7. The token’s market capitalization exceeds $105 million.
The block price showed that 1 ether was worth almost $2,508 after rising 2.72% over the past day.
