Cryptocurrency investors should not throw extra cash at AI agents for trading. Cryptocurrency venture capitalists may still have losers, so stick to the amount you want to invest if you’re trading alone.
“Trading is always a zero-sum game,” Giulio Xiloyannis, co-founder of Web3 venture capital studio LiquidX, told Hall of Flame.
“For someone to make money, someone always has to lose money.” says the entrepreneur, originally from Spain and now based in Malaysia. He explains that it may not be the exact moment, but “ultimately you have to get out to someone to realize your worth.”
The 35-year-old believes AI agents are the ‘most powerful proposition’ the industry has seen, but warns the system cannot change market fundamentals.
It’s “mathematically impossible” for an AI agent to make an entire market “more profitable,” the former fashion entrepreneur-turned-cryptocurrency has repeatedly said.
Therefore, traders should avoid the temptation to “spend more of their budget” on the latest cryptocurrency *toy*, suggests Xiloyannis. “Risk allocation should depend on the asset category, not who is trading,” he warns.
But AI agents give ordinary everyday combatants “time” they never had before.
“By having an AI agent, the ideal version would be another version of yourself, but watching your charts 24/7.”
AI agents also provide a “level playing field” for regular people trying their luck in the cryptocurrency markets against professional high-frequency traders who are “getting a lot of value from retail traders,” Xiloyannis says.
Oh, and AI agents aren’t subject to cognitive biases like humans.
“The human mind and emotions are a trader’s biggest enemy,” he asserts.
How did Giulio Xiloyannis build X followers?
Xiloyannis has 496,000 followers on
In the cryptocurrency world, he explains, “it’s much more founder-centric than product-centric” because cryptocurrency users have a financial stake in the project. This is not always the case in Web2.

“At Web2, most of the focus is on the product, with some exceptions such as Elon Musk,” he says.
“The average Apple user doesn’t really care about Tim Cook, but shareholders do,” he added.
“In cryptocurrency, most of the balance between founder and product is much more skewed towards the founder. This is because people become investors much earlier in Web2.”
Xiloyannis saw firsthand the focus on founders over products when his company LiquidX acquired popular gaming NFT collection Pixelmon in 2022, amassing over 100,000 followers.
“Pixelmon had a huge community. There are over 100,000 users. The downside is that the founders delivered too little on their promises. There was much misfortune in the community. The community was on the verge of collapse,” he explains.
“When we took it over, we said we would save this. It had an immediate springboard effect that passed on to us as their hope. LiquidX became very popular and had over 100,000 followers,” he adds.
What type of content does Giulio Xiloyannis provide?
Xiloyannis says his content style is very different from the average Web3 founder.
“I write based on my long entrepreneurial journey, when the average Web3 founder was in his 20s and was a very smart person, but had not yet been around,” he explains.
He is also attracted to content from “entrepreneurs sharing their startup experiences.”
“It’s rare, but it’s very valuable,” he says.

“Founders who are willing to talk about everyday issues are great. Ultimately, entrepreneurs are lonely. “There are many things that are familiar to other entrepreneurs, so you can read the content in depth.”
What are your predictions for Giulio Siloyanis?
Xiloyannis is “very optimistic,” believing that cryptocurrency gaming and AI will “explode” and take a significant share of the global market.
“Currently we have less than 1% of the gaming market and a negligible presence in the AI market. I believe both categories will start seeing a 10-12 per cent penetration curve within two years,” he says.
“Gaming penetration will reach 10% by the end of 2026.”
The answer every cryptocurrency trader wants from VCs is: Are AI Coins worth a punt right now?
Xiloyannis believes that “AI crypto tokens that represent primary agents that are investment agents are more interesting than pure AI memecoins.”
AI memecoins “help raise awareness of what’s happening, but they don’t have an inherent longevity. Longevity depends on cultural movements,” he explains.
But if the AI hype continues, AI memecoins could be in for a roller coaster ride for some time, he suggests.
“Longevity does not seem to be in the fundamental fundamentals of coins.”
