Blockchain detective ZachXBT claims a former professional Fortnite player and blockchain security analyst from Australia was involved in a memecoin scam that resulted in approximately $3.5 million being stolen.

The former gamer, who was expelled from esports organization ‘Overtime’ in June 2020 over allegations of cheating, was also known at X as a security analyst and founder of a threat mitigation system called Sentinel, according to gaming TV network Ginx.tv.

Investigators also said Serpent was “using the proceeds to gamble at online casinos,” and his gambling records showed deposit and withdrawal addresses with “high exposure” to some of the addresses associated with account takeovers.

Investigators reported that Serpent began deleting all of his posts from his new X account after the first part of the investigation was made public on November 26.

In 2022, ‘Serpent’ claimed to be a cybersecurity analyst and published a report on how scammers target inexperienced cryptocurrency users through fake websites, verified account hacking, phishing, and fake airdrops to the now-suspended X account. We have published a guide.
