HKMA issues warning to Nanyang Commercial Bank fraud website

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has warned the public about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens linked to Nanyang Commercial Bank and urged them to be cautious about phishing activities.





The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning notice to the public about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens linked to Nanyang Commercial Bank, Limited. This warning follows a press release issued by the bank, highlighting the potential risks posed by these fraudulent online platforms.

According to the HKMA, fraudulent websites and login screens were reported to authorities and the public was immediately warned. The HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks directing users to perform transactions on their website. Additionally, the bank does not request sensitive personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords via phone, email, or SMS.

HKMA advises individuals who may have inadvertently provided personal information or made financial transactions through fraudulent websites to contact Nanyang Commercial Bank using the contact information provided in the press release. Affected individuals are also urged to report incidents to the Hong Kong Police Crime Branch Information Center by calling 2860 5012.
