The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning about fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens posing as Chong Hing Bank Limited. This announcement was made to protect the public from potential phishing scams, as reported by HKMA.

The HKMA’s warning comes after reports emerged of fraudulent websites and internet banking login screens designed to mimic Chong Hing Bank. Scam sites aim to extract sensitive information from unsuspecting users. Chong Hing Bank issued a press release on the matter, which is available to the public on the HKMA website.
Security measures and public awareness
HKMA reminds the public that legitimate banks do not send emails or SMS messages containing hyperlinks directing customers to their website for transactions. Additionally, the bank will never ask you for sensitive personal information such as login passwords or one-time passwords via phone, email or SMS, including through embedded links.

Individuals who have inadvertently provided personal information or have made financial transactions through fraudulent websites are advised to contact Chong Hing Bank immediately using the contact details provided in the official press release. You should also report the incident to the police by contacting the Hong Kong Police Crime Branch Information Center on 2860 5012.
