Existing Vault12 customers can easily update their apps by switching to the new design when the app is released. The functionality of the app remains unchanged and Guardian is still essential for fully decentralized backup and inheritance.
What is Vaut12 Guard?
Today we are excited to release Vault12 Guard version 2.0, which delivers a completely revamped user experience tailored to a wider range of users. With this update, we’ve rebranded the app as “Vault12 Guard” to highlight its core functionality that protects your critical Web3 assets and ensures their inheritance for future generations.
new experiences
Our team has been working hard to improve the Vault12 app to make it more accessible to regular users as well as security professionals.
We’ve also expanded our capabilities to encompass NFTs and works of art along with cryptocurrencies. Some of these improvements were implemented in last year’s “Hybrid” update. For example, we’ve greatly simplified the onboarding process by instantly backing up seed phrases without the need for Guardian.
It also introduced subscription support through the Google Play Store earlier this year, aligning itself with the Apple iOS App Store.
What’s new in Vault12 Guard?
- Simple and easy onboarding. Once you create a vault and add assets to it, your asset protection is complete.
- You can assign Guardians at your convenience for fully decentralized backup and inheritance.
- Vault subscriptions are now available through the Apple iOS App Store and Google Play App Store.
- It provides a new, consistent user experience as you use the app to learn more and activate features.
- Supports Web3 wallets, NFTs (including multiple media files), and digital art.
- Create security for creator projects with multiple Web3 wallets, including royalty wallets and multiple original media files that need to be protected.
- Eliminates the need to capture personal information about Vault subscribers and guardians.
What does this mean for existing Vault12 customers?
Once Vault12 Guard is released on the App Store, you can easily update the app. The app icon will switch to a new design, but apart from the interface changes, Vault will continue to work as before. You don’t need to do anything else.
How do I update the Vault12 app?
Once the app is released, simply update it and your device will see the new name and icon. We recommend that you contact your guardian and encourage them to update their app.
Now, if Guardian is optional, how does inheritance work?
If you want fully decentralized and decentralized backups or want to configure inheritance, Guardian is not an option. What has changed is that you no longer need to assign a Guardian the moment you create a new Vault. You can safely add assets that are protected by your device’s biometric security.
As before, assigning a Guardian allows for fully decentralized and decentralized backups. This way, if you lose your phone, you can recreate the entire Vault on a new phone.
