WORMHOLE, a prominent cross chain messaging platform, has announced significant changes in the supported network infrastructure. According to the WORMHOLE blog, several blockchain networks will not be used anymore, starting from the summer of 2025. In addition, some cosmos chains will be converted into community support front end and relay services.
A network that is affected
Guardian Network, which supervises the security and sustainability of WORMHOLE operation, has decided to stop support for a specific network. This decision occurs after a thorough review of network indicators such as transaction volume and resource utilization.
The network scheduled for complete depreciation includes Terra, Terra2, Oasis, Aurora, Acala, Karura and XPLA. As part of the transition, WORMHOLE separates the entire node of these chains from the platform to effectively stop the sending messages and token transmission. But as long as most guardians continue to apply, the transfer will be possible.
Transition of cosmos chain
In addition to the overall depreciation, the Cosmos chain, including injections, osmotic, EVMOS and Kujira, will shift to the front of the community. This means that WORMHOLE stops the IBC relay, which has received subsidies, and the portal of WORMHOLE’s token transmission interface will no longer host the front end of these chains.
The existing IBC connection is maintained as a white list, and stakeholders can set their own front end and IBC relay solutions to maintain token transmission to these chains.
Implementation timeline
The depreciation process is implemented in two stages. First, the Guardian Network connects the affected chain nodes and lists these chains in the portal front end. These changes will be effective in the summer of 2025, and there is no confusion before this period.
Support and resource
WORMHOLE recommends developers to use WORMHOLE CONNECT End Widgets and @Certusone/Wormhole-SDK to set their own solutions. For those who are interested in IBC relays, service providers such as Cryptocrew Validators can support the necessary infrastructure.
About the wormhole
WORMHOLE is a major interoperability platform that connects over 30 blockchain networks to connect distributed finance (Defi), non -crack tokens, and governance. WORMHOLE remains a reliable platform for numerous blockchain projects, including Circle and Uniswap, through more than $ 40 billion in history through more than 1 billion cross chain messages.
