Etherrium developers have discussed the client preparation and EIP finalization by focusing on the PECTRA and Peerdas upgrades for all core developers.

In the All Core Developers Consensus Call #151 held on February 20, 2025, Ethereum developers have convened to discuss important updates and upgrades related to Ethereum Network. According to galaxy.com, this meeting, which was chairman of the Etherum Foundation researcher Alex Stokes, focused on the PECTRA and Peerdas upgrades.

PECTRA Devnet 6 Stability

The developer reported smooth work in PECTRA Devnet 6, and the EF developer operating engineer “PK910” confirmed the stability of the updated client. The problem with Flashbots Builder was noted, but the test for MEV workflow was well done. System contracts for PECTRA are assigned to Holesky, Sepolia and Ethereum Mainnet to ensure preparation for the upcoming development.

Prysm developer “Radek” urged discussions on the proof of EIP 7549, emphasizing problems related to proof aggregation. The difference in client strategy is that it may have difficulty in HOLESKY Testnet, which suggests that additional tests are required before the PECTRA upgrade.

PEERDAS DEVNET 5 adjustment

Changes in Peerdas, which affect EL (Execution Layer), are planned for Devnet 5. Kevaundray Wedderburn mentioned that the EOF temporarily removed the EOF from the EL code to temporarily remove the EOF and test the change of peerdas. In the upcoming ACD call, discussions are expected to reach an agreement on the types of transactions of peerdas and EOFs.

Stokes outsourced the evidence from the consensus layer to the executable. This adjustment requires a change to EIP 7549 and will be discussed in future meetings.

Fusaka’s BLOB capacity

The developer increases Fusaka’s BLOB capacity and aims to be a maximum limit of 50 limitations. The concept of BPO (BLOB Parameter -only) fork has been reviewed to provide a flexible upgrade path without complexity of standard hard fork. Although it is considered a potential solution, the developer prefers to explore the increase in capacity first.

Finishing of EIP 7872 and EIP 7870

The call ended with a contract to finish the EIP 7872 for the local builder and the EIP 7870, providing hardware and bandwidth recommendations for the validation tester. The discussion emphasized the need for recommended recommendations in a rapidly changing protocol environment, emphasizing the effect of liquid staying on profitability.

The next step includes additional tests and discussions to ensure preparation for the PECTRA upgrade and peerdas adjustment, which are scheduled for HOLESKY PECTRA upgrades on February 24, 2025.
