Devcon, the Ethereum community’s annual global builders’ gathering, November 3-6, 2026, JIO World Center, Mumbai, India.
This Devcon 8 update is not a complete vision, but it will help organizers and the wider ecosystem plan. More details on programming, tracks, and participation will be announced in the coming months.
Why India, why Mumbai?
India was chosen as the next host location based on the size and rapid growth of its developer ecosystem, growing local adoption, and strong grassroots Ethereum community.
- India has more than 17 million developers on GitHub.
- It has been the largest source of new cryptocurrency developers since 2023.
- Leading the way in global cryptocurrency adoption for two years in a row.
- Ethereum-centric activity continues to grow rapidly across universities, meetups, hackathons, and community groups.
India is also home to a strong ecosystem with projects like ETHMumbai, Devfolio, Polygon, etc. that have been shaping the Ethereum community for years. For a more in-depth overview of ecosystems, I recommend reading Geodework’s Ecosystem Overview.
As a major global city with a deep technology base, Mumbai offers strong accessibility to attendees from across India and Asia. Hosting Devcon 8 here will strengthen existing momentum and lower the barrier for new builders to connect with contributors around the world.
Devcon 8 will be held from November 3-6, 2026, just a few days ahead of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, on November 8. Come to Devcon and experience this important cultural and religious celebration.
What is Devcon?
Devcon is a biennial gathering for the global Ethereum community organized by the Ethereum Foundation to build and use decentralized systems.
that:
- A crash course for new Ethereum explorers
- A global reunion of long-time contributors
- Where developers, researchers, community organizers, students and creators come together
- Conference for all types of builders
Devcon has always had a strong technical core (it is DEVeloper CONference, after all) and this remains true. But Ethereum’s applications extend beyond protocol engineering to the digital economy, research, art, community work, governance, public goods, and more.
Devcon isn’t just for developers. For engineers, designers, researchers, infrastructure operators, educators, community organizers, social economists, artists, and anyone who uses Ethereum to build systems that improve the world.
We rotate Devcon across multiple regions because Ethereum can have a real and immediate impact in many parts of the world.
What to Expect in Mumbai
Devcon 8 will be held whereacross 4 daysWith:
- complete programming
- several steps
- In-depth technical content and workshops
- Sessions for newcomers
- supporter space
- community hub
- discussion corner
- A familiar Devcon atmosphere with art, music, and spaces formed by the community
More information about programming, speaker applications, community involvement, volunteer opportunities and tickets will be posted over the coming months. Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on X, Instagram or Farcaster to stay up to date.
For event organizers, strongly consider scheduling activities before or after the Devcon date. To avoid duplication with Devcon programming and reduce the impact of traffic congestion, which may be problematic.
