Symbiogenes, Square Enix’s first blockchain gaming project, has released its first batch of Ethereum NFT heroes, and the names of the characters are curious to say the least. But they are selling.
One person dropped $1,200 worth of ETH for an NFT character named “Egg,” while another spent over $500 for a hero named “Egg.”hunger.” Since Egg and Starvation are not physically similar to their respective meanings, it feels like the names were either spit out by an AI name generator or the beginning of someone’s cryptocurrency wallet seed phrase.
“kennel” She seems much more ready to start a punk rock band outside of Hot Topic than she is to symbolize a dog fence. “dimple“I feel like I don’t have enough dimples,”hair“I feel like I don’t have enough hair,”tuber” It looks more like a secret military agent than a root vegetable.
Final Fantasy creator Square Enix has avoided using unique, fantasy-inspired names like Sephiroth or Yuna in its latest games. All 500 Symbiogenic Chapter 1 character NFTs have names that are actual words, from “Condiment” to “Test”, “Wart” and “Mountaineering”. It’s an obvious effort to eliminate giving human names to these human characters.
However, the intent or reason for giving characters names such as “Cockscomb” and “Famine” is unclear. decryption We reached out to Square Enix for comment on the inspiration for these names, but did not immediately hear back.
Symbiogenesis was first announced in late 2022 and is scheduled for full release in December 2020. December 21st. The free-to-play browser-based story game offers players a quest system that allows them to unlock additional game chapters, but requires players to have NFT heroes to engage in limited end-game quests that determine the story’s final outcome.
Who knows? Maybe the name of the hero who decides the fate of symbiosis will be ‘Egg’. Or “Affair,” who wears both a baseball cap and breastplate armor. Or maybe it’s just the “example” of the pointy head.
Anything is possible.
