In a historic move, the first studio recording of a young Michael Jackson, kept secret for over 50 years, will be released on “digital vinyl” on December 7 via a blockchain-based platform.
The track, titled “Big Boy (One-Derful Version),” will be published digitally through blockchain music platform Anotherblock and can be accessed through the platform’s player along with a master tape and song stem images. Available for 48 hours in open edition and limited edition.
Dating back to July 13, 1967, this recording features an eight-year-old Michael Jackson and his siblings during their first studio session at One-Derful in Chicago.
The launch is the result of a collaboration between record owner Recordpool and Anotherblock, a Swedish blockchain-based music and royalties marketplace.
‘Digital Vinyl’ Revolution
Anotherblock has already worked with other major artists including Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber. Michel D. Traore, the company’s CEO and co-founder, told Cointelegraph:
“Doing this drop on digital vinyl on-chain allows us to build a story and community around the song and increase its value beyond just merchandise.”
“Some songs, especially this one, deserve a special home that won’t get lost in the sea of hundreds of thousands of tracks released every day,” he said. “This new format gives us the opportunity to create more stories centered around music.”

He said he was very excited about the release and thought it was a continuation of “shaking up the digital ownership scene in the music industry.”
Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, expressed her delight at the release, saying, “Recordings of our musical heritage find new rhythms in the digital age. It’s proof that Jackson’s story, like our music, remains timeless.”
