In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin serves as a beacon of potential and is attracting the attention of institutional investors. VanEck CEO Jan van Eck expressed confidence in Bitcoin’s future, predicting an all-time high next year.
His predictions are based on a deep understanding of market dynamics and Bitcoin’s unique place in the financial system.
Bitcoin hits all-time high in 12 months
Bitcoin’s journey reflects that of a prodigy growing out of nowhere. Starting at $3,000 in 2017, its value has soared, demonstrating its resilience and undeniable appeal to investors.
For this reason, Van Eck compared Bitcoin to gold, pointing out its similar behavior and potential as a store of value. This comparison is based on Bitcoin’s intrinsic characteristics that resonate with traditional value holding assets.
“I told people that (Bitcoin) would go hand in hand with gold. That was in 2017… Bitcoin is now up 10x… I think Bitcoin is a solid asset that is growing before our eyes,” van Eck said.

The CEO’s insights reveal the macroeconomic forces driving Bitcoin forward. In fact, he pointed out the important relationship between interest rates and store-of-value assets such as Bitcoin and gold. As interest rates trend downward, Bitcoin becomes more attractive.
This correlation, combined with Bitcoin’s growing acceptance and network effect, which has over 50 million users, sets the stage for Bitcoin’s incredible growth.
“I think it’s impossible to imagine that any other value, what I call Internet store value, will surpass Bitcoin. This is number one.” van Eck added:
Nonetheless, Bitcoin faces political risks and criticism regarding its use for nefarious activities. For example, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon recently stated that if he were to take a government position, he would “shut down” Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Van Eck addressed these concerns head-on, acknowledging them and highlighting the broader context in which traditional financial institutions struggle with similar issues. Rather than dismissing concerns, his argument presents a balanced perspective, emphasizing Bitcoin’s robustness and potential.
According to van Eck, the upcoming April halving is a pivotal event for Bitcoin. He likened Bitcoin’s growth to the growth of a child growing beyond the bubble stage, as seen in Bitcoin’s recovery and growth since 2017. This growth trajectory therefore indicates Bitcoin’s continued value and its potential to reach new all-time highs within 12 months.
Likewise, Dan Morehead, managing partner at Pantera Capital, believes that certain supply and coin distribution parameters governing Bitcoin have resulted in distinct four-year cycles in its price. For this reason, he said Bitcoin’s bull market will continue until 2025 if historical performance is a reliable indicator of future trends.
