See, 2023 has been a very good year for gaming, giving us gems like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate III, and Alan Wake II. But we are optimistic and think it could be 2024. Better.
That’s the vibe we’re getting from the initial batch of games expected to be released next year, spanning everything from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to Star Wars Outlaws and countless sequels and original titles in between.
It’s still too early. There are a lot more games coming in 2024, and even Nintendo Switch 2. no grand theft auto 6But we’ll have to wait until 2025 for that to happen.
But there’s already a lot to look forward to, and we’ve started highlighting some of the biggest hitters coming through the pipeline in 2024. Below you’ll find some of our initial picks for games to keep an eye on, but stay tuned. We will be updating this list regularly throughout the year to expand the list and replace it with newly released games.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Release date: January 11, 2024
Ubisoft’s legendary action franchise finally returns with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game combines elements of old-school side-scrolling entries with more modern 3D games, and adds a bit of Metroid-style exploration for good measure. . The end result seems to be a new take on the series and an adventure you can really get into.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Release date: February 2, 2024
After developing the acclaimed Batman: Arkham game trilogy, Rocksteady Studios is working on a much larger open-world Justice League game. Oh, but you’re not playing as the Justice League. No, he intends to stop them after Brainiac brainwashes him, and he will do so by becoming an active member of the Suicide Squad, which includes Harley Quinn and King Shark. Expectations are very high, especially since it is being released 9 years after Batman: Arkham Knight.

Release date: February 16, 2024
Skull & Bones was announced in 2017 and has been in development for a decade as of this writing, so please excuse any ambiguity about the possibility of actually setting a release date. But Ubisoft is flying the flag again for its latest spinoff of the great Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, promising naval battles, custom ships, and online battles against other squads. Cross your fingers.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Release date: February 29, 2024
Sometimes it’s a mistake to mess with an all-time classic, but 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake did an impressive job of reinterpreting an influential PSone role-playing gem. But that was only part of the story. The remake significantly expanded just one part of the original game into a full-blown adventure, then introduced two more entries over the next few years. The second, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is scheduled for release in February, bringing more of the game’s iconic world into the 4K era.

Release date: March 22, 2024
The smart money says we’ll be swinging. Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever you want to call it) isn’t scheduled for release until the end of 2024, but Nintendo still has some interesting games in the works for the original device. Princess Peach Showtime gives Mario’s companion a starring role as a hero who transforms into various roles to save the day in a series of theatrical plays. Detective Peach? Gladiator peach? Stalker 2: Heart of Cornobyl
Release date: Q1 2024
No, there will be no in-game NFTs after this. Gamers are pushed back According to developer GSC Game World’s 2021 plans, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl still looks compelling as a first-person shooter with surreal twists and rich storytelling. It comes 15 years after the last entry, and while the previous PC-exclusive entry is considered a cult favorite, STALKER 2’s Half-Life vibe and Xbox release could catapult this sequel into the big leagues.

Release date: Q2 2024
Hades is one of the most beloved games of the past few years, providing an accessible entry point into the difficult roguelike genre with its dazzling presentation and sharp storytelling. It’s no surprise, then, that Supergiant Games’ Hades II is one of the most anticipated games of 2024, with an early access PC version scheduled to debut in the second quarter before its final release on consoles. It seems like the same vibe, but we’re not complaining.

Ubisoft, the company behind hit series like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, will take its first foray into open-world action games set in a galaxy far, far away in 2024. star wars outlaw. And with the extensive gameplay demo above, it already packs quite a bit, showing off original characters and charming environments that are reminiscent of familiar beats while also breaking new ground.

Marvel’s Wolverine
Release date: 2024 TBA
It’s not yet clear if Marvel’s Wolverine will be released in 2024 or later, but considering Insomniac Games first teased it for 2021, we hope it will see the light of day. The famous X-Men lead is getting his own game from the creators of the recent, great Spider-Man games, and while we don’t know much more just yet, that’s reason enough to be excited. let’s hope Recent Insomniac Games studio hacks It doesn’t slow down progress.
