The Shiba Inu team has partnered with domain company D3. The parties involved will work together to help Shiba Inu set up the first SHIB domain for its website and email.
Meme Coin aims to apply for a TLD (top level domain) for .shib through ICANN. The non-profit organization is known for maintaining various aspects of the Internet.
Unstoppable Domains and Ethereum Name Service already provide services for requesting domain names ending in .crypto or .eth. However, these domains can only link to cryptocurrency wallets and not to websites accessible through a browser.
Until now, crypto-themed domain names are not connected to the Domain Name System (DNS). The Shiba Inu team is trying to change that by becoming the first cryptocurrency domain to enter the mainstream internet.
For this reason, we have partnered with D3 Global, a renowned infrastructure provider. The two parties will work together to expedite the acquisition of a TLD for Shiba Inu. This situation was solved by Shiba Inu’s main developer, Shitoshi Kusama.
According to Shytoshi, the partnership with D3 enables: shiba inu Expand beyond the ecosystem. Having direct access to the SHIB ecosystem will expose Shiba Inu to 5 billion internet users.
Adding physical domains to SHIB is a huge deal as it expands the team’s vision for virtual identities. This will also drive Shiba Inu’s long-term monetization pipeline in the ecosystem, the lead developer added.
It will take some time to know whether this application was successful. ICANN previously provided these services to applications in 2012. This application cycle brought domains like .app and .xyz to the market.
The next TLD cycle is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. It is clear that the collaboration between Shiba Inu and D3 will also take this cycle into account.
