Adidas and crypto fitness app Stepn have joined forces, marking the start of a collaborative set that encompasses both NFTs and physical goods. The partnership’s first product will be a collection of NFTs, with plans for tangible products in the pipeline, according to Stepn’s announcement.
The collaboration begins with the Stepn x Adidas Genesis sneaker collection featuring 1,000 NFTs inspired by Adidas’ most famous running silhouettes. Stepn said this initial Genesis collection marks the start of a year-long partnership, with additional NFT drops and wearable items to come.
Set to launch later this week, on April 17, the NFT collection will be available through Mooar, Stepn’s affiliated non-fungible token marketplace. Adidas has previously had crypto-related partnerships with platforms such as Coinbase, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Bugatti.
Recognized as a monetized web3 app that rewards users for physical activity, Stepn boasts a user base of 5 million. The collaboration reflects Stepn’s past partnership with Asics in 2022.
Shiti Manghani, CEO of Stepn, described Stepn’s partnership with Adidas as a testament to the evolving landscape of lifestyle rewards, emphasizing the importance of bridging the physical and digital realms through partnerships such as this.
In a recent development, Stepn further boosted user engagement by conducting a bonus points airdrop totaling $30 million worth of GMT tokens.
