AMD has announced the beta release of Amuse 2.0, a new AI image generation tool designed to deliver a seamless and fully local AI experience. According to AMD.com, the release features innovative AMD XDNA™ Super Resolution technology, promising to improve the output size and speed of AI-generated images.
Improved AI image generation
AI image generation has become an important use case for generative AI, and Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion model has been widely adopted. However, installing and running these models locally can be difficult due to technical requirements. Amuse 2.0 aims to simplify this process, providing a user-friendly interface and optimized performance for AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series Processors and Radeon™ RX 7000 Series Graphics Cards.
Key features of Amuse 2.0 Beta
Amuse 2.0 Beta is designed to be easy to install and use without any dependencies, and has a streamlined user interface called “Ez Mode.” The software automatically configures the necessary settings to facilitate AI image creation. Some of the notable features include:
- No command line required
- Simple and easy to use
- AMD XDNA™ Ultra High Resolution
- Single executable file
- Automatic configuration and model selection
- Paint with Image and Draw with Image Features
- Create custom AI filters
- Multi-stage ONNX-based pipeline (stable diffusion, control net, feature extractor)
System Requirements and Compatibility
To run Amuse 2.0 Beta, users will need an AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series Processor with 24GB of RAM or more, or an AMD Ryzen™ 8040 Series Processor with 32GB of RAM. The software also supports Radeon™ RX 7000 Series graphics cards. Upon installation, the application will automatically detect and configure your system to enable AMD XDNA™ Super Resolution features if supported hardware is detected.
Optimized performance and user experience
AMD recommends that first-time users use the “Balanced” setting, which offers a good mix of performance and quality. The application creates images on a 512×512 canvas, then upscales them to 1024×1024 using AMD XDNA™ architecture to provide high-quality output.
Amuse 2.0 Beta also includes the ability to create custom AI filters and modify existing images, all processed locally on AMD hardware. This allows users to enjoy a high level of creativity and customization in their AI-generated content.
Amuse 2.0 is currently in beta, so it may contain bugs or unstable features, but it represents a huge step forward in making AI image generation more accessible and user-friendly.
