Animoca Brands, The Sandbox, and Smobler unveil Universal Peace Sanctuary, a virtual space promoting global harmony within The Sandbox metaverse.
Animoca Brands, its subsidiary The Sandbox, and metaverse architect Smobler have jointly launched Universal Peace Sanctuary, an innovative virtual experience within The Sandbox metaverse. According to Animoca Brands, the new digital sanctuary aims to bring people together to explore an interactive experience centered around global harmony.
Vision and Mission
The real Universal Peace Sanctuary currently under construction in Lumbini, Nepal, was conceived by Dzogchen master His Eminence Shyalpa Rinpoche. The virtual version of The Sandbox aims to embody his vision of making peace more fashionable than war. The sanctuary provides a digital space where users can engage in activities that promote tolerance, cooperation, and reconciliation.
Features and Experiences
As players explore the virtual Universal Peace Sanctuary, they will encounter a variety of locations that showcase the rich history and significance of the site. The experience includes educational content on the major conflicts in human history and their consequences, providing lessons that guide the way to achieve world peace through inner peace.
Names of the main characters
Rinpoche Eminence emphasized the importance of unconditional love as the true source of peace. “The Sandbox’s Universal Peace Sanctuary provides a neutral digital space for everyone, including world leaders and diplomats, to explore peaceful solutions to world conflicts,” he said.
Yat Siu, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Animoca Brands, expressed his excitement for the project, highlighting its potential to foster inclusive and harmonious spaces in both the real and virtual worlds. “We believe that initiatives like this can drive meaningful engagement and contribute to positive change in both the real world and the open metaverse,” Siu said.
Community & Engagement
Loretta Chen, founder and CEO of Smobler, noted that the project aligns with previous work done by Bhutan-Verse for the Kingdom of Bhutan. She highlighted the unique combination of serenity, education, wellness, and purposeful adventure that the digital sanctuary offers.
Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, emphasized the role of sanctuaries in promoting world peace. “My hope is that players will open themselves to discovery as they enter The Sandbox’s Universal Peace Sanctuary, explore new cultures, talk to others, make offerings and donations, and embrace the global message of peace,” Borget said.
A broader meaning
While the physical Universal Peace Sanctuary is still under construction, a virtual version allows people around the world to join in on the mission. Through events and activities within the metaverse, users can contribute to the cause of peace, making the sanctuary a timeless reminder of the quest for lasting peace and compassionate living.
The Universal Peace Sanctuary strives to be more than just a digital space; it strives to be a light of tolerance, cooperation and reconciliation, embodying His Holiness Rinpoche’s teachings on peace and global harmony.
