Binance Charity Foundation Expands Support for Brazilian Flood Victims
In response to the recent devastating flooding and heavy rains in southern Brazil, Binance Charity is lending a helping hand. The charity arm of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange announced that it will donate up to $1 million in BNB token vouchers to registered Binance users living in flood-affected areas.
Identification based on address proof
Eligible user identification will be based on a Proof of Address (POA) completed on or before May 6, 2024 in Rio Grande do Sul, a city hit hard by heavy rains. Users who complete their POA before this date in the state will receive $80 USD BNB token vouchers each in the Rewards Hub.
Support for users who have not yet completed their POA
Binance acknowledges that many users in the affected cities may not have completed their POAs. Afterwards, for existing users who completed their POA after May 7, 2024 but before June 6, the exchange will issue a BNB token voucher worth $25 to their account. Funds are expected to start reaching users on May 9, 2024.
Cryptocurrency’s Role in Disaster Relief
The aftermath of a natural disaster often leaves people unable to access traditional banking services when they need additional funds for medical supplies, food, and other necessities. Cryptocurrency transfers are emerging as a viable solution that provides fast, cheap, borderless, and transparent transactions.
Binance’s Promise of Support
Binance stands by its users during these difficult times and continues to explore additional ways to support the Brazilian community. In the past, Binance Charity has also extended support to users in countries including Ukraine, Turkey, Libya, Morocco, Taiwan, and Italy.
