Binance, the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is launching support for a new native token from a decentralized fiat stablecoin issuer.
Binance Launchpool, which allows users to earn new assets by staking coins, said its 61st project will be Usual, a stablecoin issuer that aims to redistribute protocol ownership and governance through its native USUAL token. Yes.
describe the project,
“Unlike Tether and Circle, which generated more than $10 billion in 2023 without sharing the wealth with their users, Usual ensures a fair distribution of the value created. By integrating real-world assets directly into DeFi, Usual offers a more secure, transparent, and decentralized alternative that is consistent with the principles of decentralized finance.
Additionally, Usual enables users to become true owners of the protocol. This is achieved by enabling control of infrastructure, finances and governance through governance tokens.”
The protocol is already issuing Usual USD (USD0), a stablecoin that aims to maintain a 1:1 peg with the US dollar. It is currently the 220th largest cryptocurrency asset by market capitalization.
Between November 15th and 19th, Binance users can lock BNB and stablecoin First Digital USD (FDUSD) and receive USUAL airdrops. The exchange plans to list the asset on the 19th.
