Ethereum’s diverse client ecosystem is the foundation of everything we build together. This includes both. execution layer and consensus layer Clients are both an essential part of Ethereum’s post-merger future.

Execution layer (formerly “Eth1”) client support remains one of the top priorities for the Ethereum Foundation. These client teams have supported Ethereum’s growth over the past few years and will continue to provide critical infrastructure for the network following the merger as Ethereum transitions to a proof-of-stake consensus system. Since January 2020, EF has spent more than $10 million on execution layer client R&D. Our unwavering support will continue as these teams adapt and expand into the wider community.

At the same time, we believe it is healthy for Ethereum customers to receive funding and support from a wide range of community stakeholders, reflecting the growth and diversification of the ecosystem.

Collaborative efforts, especially those dedicated to supporting the teams and builders who maintain the various Ethereum clients, are sustainable, impactful ways to benefit Ethereum in the long term.

Building together

Today we are pleased to announce that. composite grant, Kraken, lido, Synthetics, graph and Uniswap Subsidy Each is donating $250,000 to support the Ethereum execution layer client team. This project is the result of many months of work, Ethereum Foundation this year. This fundraising will not affect EF’s ongoing financial support for the team.

Support from talented and leading companies from various industries will strengthen and further develop the innovation taking place on Ethereum.

This project represents an effort to secure the long-term growth, health, and decentralization of Ethereum. Each of these factors can be exemplified by the diversity of our customers, the strength of the team itself, and our confidence that Ethereum will continue to succeed as it has.

Why start with this approach?

One of the goals of this first round is to reduce the risks posed by reliance on a single team or entity, as we all work to maintain high-quality open source products in a diverse, distributed, and sustainable manner.

We continue to work toward a more decentralized funding mechanism for public goods on Ethereum, and this is another step toward enabling a larger group of participants to directly support client development and maintenance.

We are proud to announce the winners of this round, centered around our goals of client diversity and network success. besut, Eragon, Guess, nethermindand cloud.

As a public good, Ethereum benefits from shared responsibility. This is true in terms of client diversity and the depth and breadth of the ecosystem’s ability to support itself.

Ethereum is a project with the potential to transform and improve the core of human, social, and market interactions globally. Through the network’s groundbreaking applications, innovations, and ever-growing adoption, the Ethereum community is pushing the boundaries of what is technologically feasible every day. We are excited to take the next steps to continue our growth, and join us in our efforts to strengthen Ethereum by ensuring it remains a diverse and sustainable project and will be maintained by many for a long time to come. Please give it to us. . 🚀
