The compliance engine goes live.
According to Circle, compliance is a core aspect of operations that emphasizes trust, security, and transparency. The new Compliance Engine, integrated into the Circle Console, aims to streamline the process for enterprises to meet regulatory and compliance requirements in the digital asset and blockchain sectors.
Pioneering regulatory compliance
Circle has already made significant progress in regulatory compliance, becoming the first stablecoin issuer in Europe to comply with the Markets in Cryptocurrency Agreements (‘MiCA’) regulatory framework, which relates to stablecoins. USDC and EURC.
Introducing Compliance Engine
The Compliance Engine is designed for programmable wallets and provides customizable automated compliance checks. This new feature eliminates the need for third-party integrations, making it easier for enterprises to build on-chain solutions.
Core components of the compliance engine
The compliance engine consists of three main components:
- Transaction Review: Perform real-time checks to identify risky objects or transactions, and programmatically define risk levels and actions to take.
- Transaction Monitoring: We periodically monitor past transactions to detect high-risk behavior patterns occurring in users and wallets.
- Travel Rules: Ensures compliance with jurisdictional requirements with real-time auditing, secure PII transfer between VASPs, and validation support for self-hosted wallets.
These capabilities allow enterprises to tailor compliance capabilities to their specific needs, from defining transaction alert policies to integrating real-time risk management enforcement to developing proactive block lists.
The Future of Digital Asset Compliance
Circle’s Compliance Engine represents a significant step forward in digital asset compliance, providing a comprehensive platform for enterprises to navigate the complex regulatory landscape. The tool aims to reduce the time and effort required to bring compliant products to market.
