- Upgrade your nodes!
Final confirmation, blog brand change
If you’ve read my recent posts or heard me talk about Ethereum and this massive upgrade currently underway, you’ve probably noticed that not only do I shy away from discussing “steps” (instead I refer to a series of independent upgrades) but ” There have been attempts to avoid using the terms “eth1” and “eth2”. I am said I wrote this back in January about terrible terms. “State of Eth2”.
What we call “eth2” is a series of major upgrades to Ethereum. consensus layer — To ensure that the protocol is secure, sustainable and scalable — the “eth2 client” is an implementation of this proof-of-stake consensus.
And in this context what we call “eth1” is Ethereum’s rich. application layer, Likewise, the “eth1 client” (after upgrading to Proof-of-Stake) is the software that does the heavy lifting at this layer. Ethereum’s application layer is currently powered by a proof-of-work consensus algorithm, but will soon be powered by the Beacon Chain, a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism currently in production and secured by approximately 3.5 million ETH.
Now, to wrap up my campaign, I’m looking to rebrand this blog series. From now on, this series will be known as “Finalized: Ethereum Consensus Layer”. The name here pays homage to the most important feature of the proof-of-stake consensus layer. finality.
Stakers: Upgrade your nodes
It must be Berlin compatible to stay connected.
The Ethereum PoW chain is undergoing a mainnet upgrade called Berlin on April 14, 2021. This is a backwards-incompatible fork, so you will need to update your software if you want to continue following the mainnet. More information about this can be found at EF. Ethereum Berlin Upgrade Announced.
To successfully perform all of your various duties as a beacon chain staker and validator, you will need an Ethereum PoW endpoint. This feature acts as a one-way link between system components to allow new validator deposits.
To successfully maintain this link you will need: Strikers need to upgrade Their Ethereum PoW nodes! If you are running the Pyrmont testnet, you will need to upgrade your Goerli nodes. Before March 17thIn 2021, if you are validating on mainnet, you will need to upgrade your mainnet PoW node. Before April 14th2021.
This is also a good opportunity to upgrade your beacon nodes.
In addition to upgrading your PoW nodes, we recommend that you also upgrade your beacon nodes. there was many We’ve recently made some interesting optimizations to all mainnet clients. To ensure your validator runs with optimal performance (and profitability), download and try the latest release.
