Crypto.com has announced a major partnership with Adelaide Oval, one of Australia’s premier sporting venues.

Crypto.com and Adelaide Oval have merged to offer the first cryptocurrency payments at a major Australian stadium, according to details in today’s press release.

The Oval is the home ground of Australian rules football club, the Adelaide Crows.

Sports fans can pay via Crypto.com Pay at Adelaide Oval.

In an announcement on Thursday, Crypto.com said its partnership with Adelaide Oval also includes DataMesh, a leading payment terminal provider.

Through this collaboration, domestic sports fans and concertgoers will be able to pay with cryptocurrency at food and beverage outlets within stadiums. Customers will pay through Crypto.com Pay, the exchange’s payment solution that supports multiple cryptocurrencies.

Access to these services will begin at the AFL Gather Round on 4 April.

The first 1,000 transactions made during the event will receive AUD$10 cashback, with more incentives to come during the 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership season.

The promotion will also cover Adelaide Crows home games, Crypto.com announced.

“The payments technology being introduced at Adelaide Oval is user-friendly and highly scalable for both merchants and customers, and we see a lot of potential for future integrations like this.“Karl Mohan, APAC general manager at Crypto.com, said in a statement.

DataMesh CEO Mark Nagy said launching a cryptocurrency payment service at Adelaide Oval was part of the company’s mission.break down barriers” This hinders cryptocurrency adoption.

Nagy said it empowers consumers by bridging the gap between traditional and digital payments, giving users new payment options.

The partnership with Adelaide Oval follows Crypto.com’s collaboration with Datamesh and OTR to launch Australia’s first in-store cryptocurrency payment system.
